The game of chess is played on a board that is divided into 64 squares. Each player begins with 16 pieces: a king, a queen, two bishops, two knights, two rooks, and eight pawns. The objective is to "overthrow" the opponent's king by threatening the square that the king is standing on. The player who is able to do this is the winner.
The game of chess is a strategy game in which the objective is to move your pieces in such a way that the opponent cannot escape. If the player is able to do this, the opponent will be checkmated and the game will end in a win for the player.
This is done by moving the pieces in such a way that the opponent will not be able to escape.
